Hungary and Slovakia will build a direct connection between the oil refineries in Bratislava and Százhalombatta, thereby strengthening the energy security of the entire region. The agreement was signed in Brussels by Slovak Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Denisa Saková and Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó.

Under the agreement, the countries will build a new product pipeline connecting the Slovnaft refinery in Bratislava with the Duna refinery in the Hungarian city of Százhalombatta. The pipeline will be used to transport petroleum products, primarily gasoline and diesel.

The pipeline will be capable of transporting approximately 1.5 million metric tons of petroleum products annually. It will be approximately 127 kilometers long, and its completion is scheduled for the first half of 2027.

The project is expected to improve fuel supply logistics between the two countries while enhancing supply security across Central Europe.

Recent disruptions to oil supplies in the region have highlighted the vulnerability of the energy infrastructure and the need to diversify supply routes and sources. The new pipeline will improve supply flexibility and enable more efficient fuel transfers between refineries in both countries.
