Meeting of the Bohunice Programme Monitoring Committee Held in Jaslovské Bohunice
On Tuesday, May 26, 2026, a meeting of the Bohunice Programme Monitoring Committee was held in Jaslovské Bohunice under the National Decommissioning Assistance Programme (NDAP). The meeting was attended by representatives of the European Commission, the Member States of the European Union, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the Slovak Innovation and Energy Agency (SIEA), the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic, and JAVYS, the company responsible for the decommissioning of the V1 Nuclear Power Plant (V1 NPP).
“The decommissioning of the V1 Nuclear Power Plant is now entering its final phase, and Slovakia can already point to tangible, visible, and internationally recognized achievements. Over the past few years, we have successfully completed exceptionally challenging technological operations, placing Slovakia among the countries capable of decommissioning nuclear facilities safely, efficiently, and to the highest professional standards,” said Szabolcs Hodosy, State Secretary at the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic.
During the meeting, the results of the Monitoring Report for the second half of 2025 were presented. Discussions focused primarily on progress in the decommissioning of the V1 Nuclear Power Plant, including the dismantling of technological equipment, decontamination activities, and preparations for the final stages of the project. Participants also reviewed the status of funding for key projects related to radioactive waste processing.
Attention was also given to the next steps in the project to decommission and demolish the V1 Nuclear Power Plant site, with the aim of ensuring its efficient and timely completion. Representatives of the European Commission welcomed the progress achieved while emphasizing the need to continue addressing the remaining challenges in order to complete the decommissioning of the V1 Nuclear Power Plant by 2029.
The Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic also announced that the NDAP programme will continue on May 27, 2026, with a follow-up expert session focusing on technical discussions, the coordination of European decommissioning programmes, and further expert consultations.
