Public buildings can now apply for fast-track energy allowance

Applicants for fast-track energy measures for public buildings can now submit their applications. The Slovak Innovation and Energy Agency (SIEA) under the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic started accepting applications today (Monday 19 August 2024). Municipalities, towns, districts, higher territorial units (VÚC) as well as ministries, courts, police or army can apply for a grant of at least €100,000 to reduce energy consumption in public buildings owned or managed by them. The total budget for the call, which was announced by the Ministry of Economy and Energy together with SIEA in mid-July, is €23,539,992 including VAT.

"Successful applicants will be able to use the funding for example to install solar panels, thermostatic heads and valves on radiators, replace windows and doors, insulate the roof or floor of an unheated attic, or upgrade lighting. More than €23.5 million is available for these rapid energy measures in public buildings. Thanks to these projects, we will be able to reduce the costs of cities, municipalities or the public sector and at the same time increase the comfort of, for example, our children in schools," said the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of the Slovak Republic Denisa Sakova.

This support can be applied for through the information system of the SR Recovery and Resilience Plan - ISPO by state administration units, local self-government units and other public administration units, where one application for support can cover several public buildings. The maximum amount of the grant depends on the total area of the building and the extent of the measures implemented.

The full text of the call, together with information on what to include in an application, can be found on the website of the Department of Trade and Industry: Call for fast-track measures to improve the energy efficiency of public buildings.

Successful applicants must implement the measures in the buildings by the end of June 2025. However, those who have already implemented the measures in public buildings can also apply for a grant if their physical implementation started on 1 February 2022 or later.
