State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic Vladimír Šimoňák visited Georgia and signed an Agreement on Economic Cooperation
On October 22, 2025, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic, Vladimír Šimoňák, held a bilateral meeting with Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Genadi Arveladze. The meeting resulted in the signing of an Agreement on Economic Cooperation between the Government of the Slovak Republic and the Government of Georgia, which establishes a framework for strengthening bilateral relations in the fields of trade, investment, industrial cooperation, and innovation.
The signing of the Agreement on Economic Cooperation between the Government of the Slovak Republic and the Government of Georgia official institutionalizes the establishment of a Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation. The Commission will serve as a platform for strengthening bilateral relations in the areas of trade, investment, industry, innovation, and energy. The Georgian side also proposed that the first meeting of the Joint Commission be held in the first half of 2026, in conjunction with a business mission that would enable direct meetings between Slovak and Georgian business entities with the aim of identifying specific opportunities for cooperation.
Georgia is Slovakia’s partner in the South Caucasus region and plays an important role as a transport and trade intersection between Europe and Asia. In recent years, the country has achieved significant development in infrastructure, energy, and digitalization, while supporting investment in sustainable growth and innovation.
State Secretary, Vladimír Šimoňák, also attended the Tbilisi Silk Road Forum in Tbilisi, which takes place every two years. The event is one of the major international events focused on the promotion of the economic cooperation, investment, and the development of transport, energy, and digital connectivity between Europe and Asia. This year’s motto was “Invest in Connectivity – Grow in Stability”, focusing on the future of global trade, the potential of the Middle Corridor, and energy integration.
