The appeal from the Slovak Recovery and Resilience Plan aimed at supporting the construction of hydrogen electrolysis plants has been closed

The Ministry of Economy (MoE) of the Slovak Republic closed on 30 July 2024 the acceptance of applications for contribution from the funds of the Slovak Recovery and Resilience Plan within the call aimed at supporting the increase of flexibility of electricity systems for higher integration of renewable energy sources (RES). Under the call, it was possible to apply for funding for the construction of facilities for the production of hydrogen by electrolysis using RES and for its storage. A total of 13 applications were submitted to the Ministry of Economy by the deadline, requesting a total of more than €38 million in funding.

All submitted applications and projects are currently being assessed for eligibility under the mechanism. The Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic expects their evaluation in autumn 2024, while the budget for the call is €13.56 million.

The implementation of these projects together with other projects submitted under the call for support for increasing the flexibility of electricity systems for higher integration of RES, such as pumped storage hydro power plants and stationary battery systems, will jointly contribute to the achievement of the objective of the Slovak Republic Recovery and Resilience Plan - Component 1: Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Infrastructure and Investment 3 - Increasing the Flexibility of Electricity Systems for Higher Integration of RES, which is to increase the capacity of electricity storage facilities by at least 52 MW itself.
