The Minister of Economy of Slovak Republic D. Saková discussed the impact of the production shutdown at the Jaguar Land Rover plant in Nitra
The automobile manufacturer has faced a major global cyberattack that caused a shutdown of production at all its plants, including the Slovak plant in Nitra. The Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic (MoE SR) is therefore in contact with company representatives and is actively monitoring the situation and its impact on production and employees in the region. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of the Slovak Republic, Denisa Saková, also met personally with the plant’s management on Friday, September 22, 2025.
„We are in contact with Jaguar Land Rover. I personally met with the plant’s management in Nitra to discuss the specific impacts of the situation on production, employees, and the company’s suppliers. We also discussed the potential forms of state assistance, especially for families who are currently facing uncertainty,” said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of the Slovak Republic, Denisa Saková.
The Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic, in cooperation with the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Family of the Slovak Republic, is considering possible measures to mitigate the negative effects of the shutdown on employees. One of the options is to use the Kurzarbeit scheme, which allows up to 80% of employees’ wages to be compensated during periods of crisis from a special fund of the Social Insurance Agency, both for Jaguar Land Rover and its suppliers.
„Jaguar Land Rover is one of our most important employers. We will continue to support the company even in these difficult times. I believe that production will resume soon and employees will regain job security,” emphasized Minister Denisa Saková.
