Up to 184,000 m² of public buildings will be rehabilitated under a new appeal from the Slovak Recovery and Resilience Plan
Municipal offices, fire stations and kindergartens will be able to renovate and reduce their energy consumption. The Ministry of Economy (MoE) of the Slovak Republic and the Slovak Innovation and Energy Agency (SIEA) have announced a new appeal from the Slovak Recovery and Resilience Plan, through which public buildings owned or managed by the state or municipalities will be able to benefit from support for quickly implementable energy measures to reduce consumption. For example, municipalities, cities and district authorities, as well as individual higher territorial units, ministries, courts, police, army, prisons and fire stations will be eligible to request this benefit. The total budget of the call is EUR 23 539 992 including VAT. The advantage of the appeal is simple administration and flat-rate reimbursement of costs.
"Energy efficiency in public buildings is one of the key elements of our environmental and economic policy. Thanks to financial support, public buildings have the opportunity to improve the spaces that serve all of us, our citizens and our children every day, thus increasing their comfort. At the same time, we can contribute to reducing energy consumption and protecting the environment," said Denisa Saková, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of the Slovak Republic.
Through the appeal, applicants will be able to apply for funding to, for example, replace windows and external doors, insulate the roof or floor of an unheated attics, upgrade lighting, install thermostatic heads or valves or solar panels.
"In the long term, we at SIEA are also trying to simplify work with EU funds and provide funds quickly and with less bureaucracy for applicants, in this case building owners and managers. We also prefer electronic communication to paper-based communication in this call," says Ľubica Šimková, General Director of the Slovak Innovation and Energy Agency.
The support may be applied for through the information system of the SR Recovery and Resilience Plan - ISPO by the subjects of state administration, local self-government and other subjects of public administration, while the subject of several public buildings may be the subject of a single application. The minimum amount of the grant is EUR 100 thousand, the maximum amount depends on the total floor area of the building and the scope of the implemented measures.
Applicants are required to attach documentation, a contractual relationship with the contractor and confirmation of the floor area of the building, which will then be used as the basis for the maximum rate of aid. The full text of the call with all annexes is published on the website of the Ministry of Economy: Appeal for fast-track measures to improve the energy efficiency of public buildings
The Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic is the executor of the above-mentioned appeal under Component 19 of the Slovak Recovery and Resilience Plan RePower EU. The Slovak Innovation and Energy Agency, under the competence of the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic, is the intermediary of the appeal and will accept applications from 19 August 2024. The measures in the buildings must be implemented by the end of June next year, i.e. 2025.
