Government Focuses on Five Key Areas to Support the Automotive Industry

On Friday, July 4, 2025, the Government of the Slovak Republic held a meeting attended also by representatives of car manufacturers, industry associations, and organizations. The Slovak automotive industry, employing around 128,000 people and contributing 10% to Slovakia’s GDP, is undergoing the largest transformation in its history, further influenced by the current geopolitical situation. The government approved a series of measures to ensure the competitiveness of the sector, which forms the backbone of the Slovak economy. The document was prepared in cooperation with the country’s largest carmakers, experts, and relevant institutions.

In Bratislava, representatives of the European Commission met with Slovak industry leaders and key stakeholders in the energy sector.

On Thursday, 3 July 2025, Bratislava hosted an important meeting between representatives of the Slovak Ministry of Economy, led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Denisa Saková, and the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Energy, led by Director-General Ditte J. Jørgensen. They met with leaders of business and industry associations and organizations to discuss energy prices and the future of the EU energy market, particularly following the presentation of the REPowerEU Roadmap measures. Talks also included Slovak stakeholders from the gas and oil markets and a nuclear electricity producer, with the participation of the relevant national regulators.

D. Saková: Investment Heading to the Upper Nitra Region – Transforming Regions Affected by Industrial Decline is Our Priority

An investment is being directed to the town of Nováky, representing an important step in the economic transformation of the Upper Nitra region. On Wednesday, 2 July 2025, the Government of the Slovak Republic approved, at the proposal of the Ministry of Economy (MH SR), the provision of investment aid in the amount of €500,000 for Intermodal Technologies, a.s. The investment will support the creation of new jobs and contribute to the efficient use of existing industrial infrastructure, thereby fostering regional development and improving the quality of life of local residents.

Second Hydrogen Workshop: Balance of Hydrogen Production and Consumption in the Slovak Republic

The Ministry of Economy (MH) of the Slovak Republic, in cooperation with the National Hydrogen Association of Slovakia (NVAS), organized on Wednesday, 25 June 2025, the second joint hydrogen workshop on topics related to forthcoming legislation at both the national and European levels, the transposition of RED III, and the preparation of the Strategic Document on the Hydrogen Ecosystem of Slovakia. The workshop launched the process of defining opportunities for the development of the hydrogen ecosystem for relevant sectors of the Slovak economy based on the “quadruple helix” principle, as well as the impact of the ecosystem on society and the future of Slovakia.

Slovakia Supports the Development of Advanced Nuclear Technologies. A New Joint Venture for Spent Fuel Reuse is Emerging in Jaslovské Bohunice

The Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic welcomes the creation of a joint venture for the development of an advanced 4th-generation nuclear reactor and the reuse of spent nuclear fuel. This is a strategic initiative that brings together industrial and research leaders in the field of nuclear energy and moves Slovakia closer to a low-emission, safe, and technologically advanced future. The project is based on the cooperation of JAVYS, newcleo, and VUJE, which signed the founding agreement on Monday, 23 June 2025. The Ministry of Economy actively supports the project as part of its long-term priorities in energy security, innovation, and sustainable resource management.

Minister Denisa Saková in Uzbekistan: Six Memoranda, Nearly 30 Slovak Companies, New Impulses for Cooperation

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of the Slovak Republic, Denisa Saková, took part in an official visit to Uzbekistan on 8–9 June 2025 as a member of the delegation led by Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico. The main outcome of the bilateral talks and the business forum in Tashkent was the signing of six memoranda and cooperation statements in the fields of infrastructure, energy, the automotive industry, agriculture, and IT. Nearly 30 Slovak companies were presented at the forum, and over two days, more than 140 bilateral B2B meetings took place with representatives of Uzbek companies and institutions.

D. Saková: Nuclear energy and source diversification must be part of the solutions for energy security and the green transition.

On Friday, June 6, 2025, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of the Slovak Republic, Denisa Saková, held talks in Paris with Fatih Birol, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA), which plays a key role in energy expertise, analysis, and strategic recommendations. Their discussion focused primarily on energy security in Slovakia and the European Union. In this context, they emphasized the importance of nuclear energy as a stable and zero-emission energy source.
